Principal’s Message

Dear Brooklyn X school community,

Welcome to Spring 2025! As we embark on this exciting new semester, I am proud to welcome you to our vibrant learning community of over 250 diverse student population. Our small school environment fosters deep connections and personal attention, creating a family atmosphere where every student is known, valued, and supported. In our commitment to excellence, we maintain a cellphone-free environment that maximizes engagement and allows students to focus fully on their academic and personal growth.

This spring marks an exciting expansion of our academic offerings design to challenge our students while preparing them for college success. Our comprehensive curriculum goes beyond traditional academics, integrating essential study skills, literacy development, and social-emotional learning to support the whole student.

At the heart of our innovative approach is our  HEA3AT program, offered to students across all grade levels. This unique place-based education initiative connects students with real-world learning opportunities in Healthcare, Energy, Education, Environment, Agriculture, and Technology at eight partner sites throughout New York City. Our state-of-the-art hydroponics program, in partnership with New York Sun Works, offers students the opportunity to earn CEA certification, preparing them for emerging careers in sustainable agriculture.

Understanding the diverse aspirations of our students, we’ve enhanced our CDOS-aligned course offerings this semester. Students can now engage in expanded internship and job shadowing opportunities, gaining valuable workplace experience while exploring potential career paths. Additionally, our new virtual learning options provide flexibility for students to accelerate their credit accumulation and participate in College Now courses, creating multiple pathways to success.

I am particularly excited to announce our participation in the Freedom Riders Initiative where our exceptional  students will have the opportunity to embark on a transformative journey through the American South. This comprehensive program combines intensive learning with a six-day tour of historic Civil Rights sites across Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana, culminating in scholarly research and community action projects that connect historical struggles to contemporary social justice issues.

We look forward to a semester filled with achievement, growth, and community as we continue to build tomorrow’s leaders today.

Sincerely,

Jennyvi Fajardo

Principal
