POST-SECONDARY ADVISEMENT OFFICE (450C)
The Post-Secondary Prep Academy at Brooklyn X under the directorship of Ms. Morency serves all Brooklyn X students. Our senior students spend time in this office planning and preparing for college and career choices beyond graduation. Ms. Morency and the PSPA team personalize individual assistance to every senior and family in need. Families are asked to attend scheduled meetings and provide all documentation needed to enroll students in the best colleges suited for them academically and financially.

Senior Events & Activities

All senior students receive periodic information on events and activities happening throughout the school year. Letters will be distributed through senior advisories and mailed home. There will be a special events return label indicating special news for senior families. Special dates will be posted monthly. Please read these mailings and keep for future reference. All seniors are responsible for maintaining good academic standing to participate in activities and events. Families are responsible for attending special academic/college preparation meetings with the Post-Secondary Prep Academy team lead by Mrs. Hill.

Senior dues are created to pay for the following items (included but not limited to):

 

● Caps and Gowns/Diploma Cases
● Yearbook
● Awards Supplies
● Awards Event
● Event decorations and supplies
● Swag: goodies, snacks, parties, tee shirt/sweatshirt

 

** Paying senior dues in a timely manner allow us to book venues, pay deposits to vendors and purchase items to make the senior class’ year special. You will have options to pay in full or in installments. Payment dates will be posted. Fundraising opportunities will be planned by the senior class throughout the year to diffuse the cost of the “extras.” **

 

Commencement

University Settlement SONYC @ PS 34 is a DYCD funded middle school afterschool program. SONYC provides PS 34 middle schoolers with a variety of activities such as Lead

Our school’s commencement ceremonies have been held at Long Island University (LIU) Kumble Theatre. Each senior initially receives a set of tickets based on the size of the graduating class. Traditionally, additional tickets are distributed as incentive initiatives for parents and family members attending meetings and events. More information will be given as the year progresses.

IMPORTANT SENIOR DATES

The senior events are planned as the season progresses. Senior families will be notified monthly via phone calls, mail and flyers.
